Some memory jars may have come from African American traditions of decorating graves with objects owned by the deceased. The objects embedded in the surface of these bottles and jars provide clues about when they were made or who made them. For example, Jug with Finial includes a campaign button for William Jennings Bryan, a Democratic presidential candidate between 1896 and 1908, while High-Buttoned Shoe shows a macabre row of teeth that may have belonged to the maker.

Photographed poetry in the heartland

I am working on studies to expand my website www.axlepin.com.ph that will hopefully include an e-book of sort, beginning with photographs by Filipino artists/photographers with corresponding Tagalog/English poems by esteemed and bright young poets whose poems are already published in an anthology book of poetry I worked on, with the noted Filipino three-time Makata awardee, Tomas Agulto.

I will then hope to be able to work on more photographs with you on the rest of the poetry of foreign friends/artists/photographers/poets.

A sample each of Spanish and French translations I am posting here if only to bring you to a greater understanding of the universal language of art, one that is more readily understood especially so here in the amazing Flickr Wonderland.

The study that I am making now will culminate with the posting of it in my Facebook account, where you will find me with my familiar profile photo.
Most of my contacts in Facebook are truly wonderful and notable writers/poets/artists/photographers/publishers - so this choice of venue for initial posting.
