Bonifield, wingback, Johnson, quarterback, Foster, fullback, and late Bobbie Franks, who was the tailback. Notice the aspects in the foreground, the one bar ridel helmets. Ridel is or was a sports company.
Bobbie lived four doors south of me on Thomas Road. Many a night we spent practicing our pitch and catch football routine in the front yard. In the single wing, the tailback was the passer, and his best pass route was the jump past where he ran to his right, jumped, and passed to Bonifield.
Bobbie was the number one sprinter for Robin Priday on the track team. Bobbie ran the one hundred yard dash.
When Bobbie got off active duty, I recruited Bob for the unit. The unit was barracked in the basement of the Shot Tower stationed at the Shot tower, Ft Hayes, Columbus, Ohio. The Shot Tower is a gothic building were the Union dropped lead 34 feet into water forming ball ammunition. I was already a member, and recruited Bobby.
The Columbus Dispatch reports on Friday, September, 16, 2011, that running back Jason Franks is Grandview's leading rusher. Is Jason related to Bobbie?
In 1942, Priday quarterbacked an offense for a coach named Paul Brown at The Ohio State University; probably, the power house T-formation. Then, after returning from the war, Priday in 1945 ran the single wing for coach Carroll Widdoes, as shown by above formation.

The 1942 Bucks were the first national champions from the Ohio State University. 9-1 overall, and 6-1 in Big Ten. Lou the"Toe Groza" from Martins Ferry, place kicker, and offensive tackle, later to be inducted into Pro Hall of Fame, and Gene Fekete, fullback. Gene lived one street over from me in High School, and was Tom Nye's uncle. Fekete attended Ohio State University from 1938-1942. In 1942 Gene Fecket was an All-American and helped OSU to their very first national title going 9-1. Also in 1942 Fekete finished eighth in the Heisman voting making him the first Ohio State player to finish in the top ten. Fekete still holds the school record for the longest run from scrimage a 89 dash to the end zone on which he did not score in a game v.s Pitt on Nov. 7 1942.

Early fall, look at helmets with one face bar. Wonder any of us have our natural teeth. I don't.

"Margin markings" are in red, and the markings were "crop marks" for publication of photo.

Taken by Gordon Foster, late father, w/ Speed Graphic. Subjects looking west into sun.

Thanks to my audience for 15,000 views of my virtual album. Most views are of the Grandview sets. 1/15/10. Now 09/27/2011 I have 40,000 views, most by Grandview viewers. One view is one look at one picture, 10 views is 10 views of different artifacts.

I took this picture during the 5 seconds the sun was out for the entire game. No complaints here though, we were in the eighth row (technically the 3rd row because the first 5 were blocked off).
